What is Tech Prep?
(Sauk
Valley College Tech Prep Consortium)
The consortium
includes: Sauk Valley College Tech Prep Program, and high schools in the surrounding
area working together with the Illinois State Board of Education.
Mission Statement for Sauk Valley Community College Tech Prep Consortium
"Provide the best learning opportunity for students to acquire academic and technical skills to be successfully employed."
Goals of the consortium:
Who is a Tech Prep Student?
Students
may begin as early as the 9th grade and no later than the 11th grade to select
a Tech Prep sequence of courses. Students may revise their program
of study as they move toward their career goal.
If so, you can earn college credit here at Sterling High School by taking a certain sequence of classes towards one of these career choices.
The Articulation Process
In order to have the following tech prep classes articulated by Sauk Valley Community College, a student must maintain a 'B' average, go into an Associates program that requires the course, and use the credit within two years of graduation from high school.
If you have successfully met the above requirements, Sauk Valley College will count up to six credit hours toward your program. After completing six hours at Sauk Valley College, you will need to make an appointment with your counselor to finalize the transfer of credit.
