We reviewed materials from Chicago area schools from Nancy G. Max Gaumer talked with Virginia Johnson, from Sauk who is familiar with what Dixon does. We also had some information about some local failures. We reiterated the idea that it should be for seniors, not mandatory, and have a coordinator. Max Gaumer is going to ask Jerry Binder for permission to invite the coordinator from Dixon to the next early out in which we discuss program review info. We discussed the idea of not offering credit for this experience, making it more true to the nature of the "volunteerism idea". Recognition on the transcripts and at graduation or senior night would be appropriate. We discussed that the receiving person or organization needs the freedom to set the perimeters; who they would accept, how many hours it would involve, other time constraints, activities allowed, etc.
