DISCIPLINE/SAFETY COMMITTEE

Minutes of September 4, 2002 Meeting

The Discipline and Safety Committee met for a brief meeting on September 4, 2002, at 3:15 p.m., in the SHS library. Members present were Loren Beswick, Chairman, Bob Ptak, Becky Reiley, Dennis Hartz, Barb Morse, Lynn Heffelfinger, Cathy Koesler, Jean Sanders, Roberta Fredericks, Connie Jones, and Dotty Bruns, Recording Secretary. The purpose of the meeting was to review the minutes from the last meeting and goals/solutions to improve discipline.

The minutes of the August 28 Committee meeting were reviewed and a discussion was held regarding things we can do for safety and discipline.

Goals for this Committee:

1. Student I/ D/ become a requirement/safety issue. Would it be possible to begin yet this year?

2. That everyone knows the rules and concerns.

3. Consider printing up detention pads with carbon.

4. Consider drawing blue lines to tell students they should not go over those lines into an area where they are not allowed. An example would be Jim Black's area and/or upstairs.

5. Purchase hall and/or parking lot cameras.

6. Parking Lots - Assign parking spots with lines and numbers. If parking continues to park in a wrong area, receive a ticket and/or lose parking privileges.

7. Decide what rules are priority items, i.e. tardies, dress codes. A consistent list of things/behavior actions that are appropriate to send to office.

The next scheduled meeting for the Discipline/Safety Committee will be Wednesday, September 25, 2002.
