The Discipline and Safety Committee met for a brief meeting on October 2, 2002, at 3:15 p.m., in the SHS library. Members present were Loren Beswick, Chairman, Bob Ptak, Connie Jones, Becky Reiley, Rita Kelly, Lynn Hefflinger, Jean Sanders, Barb Morse, Dennis Hartz, Roberta Fredericks and Dotty Bruns, Recording Secretary. A review of minutes from the September 25, 2002 meeting was held.

A discussion was held concerning the painting of blue lines to designate where students should not be during the lunch hours. There was also was a brief review of changes to the handbook. It was suggested that a lock-down exercise be held this month, and also telling students so that they would know. There is also to be an additional drill this month.

Jean stated that she felt Mr. King was doing a good job with the closed lunches. Also taking away open hours and/or having times that parents walk with the student was another suggestion. Mission Statement: Hold a class after school for students on etiquette, language, and manners. A question was posed on the status of student I. D.s.

A short discussion was held concerning this year there seems more to be more harassment issues. We also should not have to wait until November for the BLIND meeting.

The next meeting will be held on October 23, 2002 from 3:15 to 4:15 in the Library.
