Ms. Dalton

Ms. Dalton has been teaching for 25 years.  She graduated from Eastern Illinois University and taught for five years before stopping to begin a family.

Her oldest son, Jimmy, is a second year law student in St. Paul, Minnesota.  She is hoping he'll give up the idea of law and politics as he is a "natural teacher and loves little children".  Her son, Jeff, graduated from St. Thomas University in St. Paul and is now a flight instructor for Purdue University Students with future goals of flying for a major airline.  Jeanna, her youngest and only daughter, is a student at Augustana and is majoring in Business Management with a Sport Management minor.  Ms. Dalton travels to Augustana frequently to watch her play volleyball or participate in track events.  All three of Ms. Dalton's children have been involved ,as students, with tutoring while in college and say teaching is hard work.

After substituting in Sterling Schools for five years, Mrs. Dalton was hired on full time and has been teaching again for 19 years.  Grading papers, and keeping up with new ways of using technology to enhance instruction make it hard for Ms. Dalton to do as much reading and baking as she enjoys.  Any students who has had Ms. Dalton could tell you that she loves music and wouldn't be surprised that she now teaches three year olds to second graders music at her church every Sunday morning.  She especially looks forward to Sunday because now she "plays" with 15 or more children as she teaches them songs.

Her favorite book is which ever one she is currently reading.  It is hard to have a favorite when there are sooo many books out there to explore.  This summer every book she read happened to be a book on some type of woman "pioneer" and how they each overcame their challenges.
