Student Services Include
Special Education
Public education for students with a disability that requires programming outside of the regular curriculum. Available to students with disabilities ages 3 to 21 years old.
Speech/Language Pathology
Services concerned with prevention, identification and treatment of disorders in speech and language.
Health Services
Those services involving the school nurse.
Counseling and Guidance
Services that assist all students in grades K-12 in learning skills, setting goals and managing life changes in order to reach their maximum potential in academic, career and other life areas.
Bilingual Education
The programming of study for those students with limited English proficiency. Programs available K through 12 grades.
Parent Services
Utilizes the six keys to successful school, family and community partnerships. Those keys are; Parenting, Communicating, Volunteering, Learning at Home, Decision Making, and Collaborating.
Early Bird Pre-Kindergarten Program
Early Bird was created to prevent school failures such as retentions, low grades and social problems. Children who may be "at risk" for these problems are enrolled in the Early Bird Program.
What If . . .
My child is experiencing academic difficulty in school
Contact your child’s teacher(s) to set up an appointment and discuss the difficulties.
My child has an active I.E.P. (individualized education program), and he/she is having difficulties
Contact your child’s special education teacher and set up an appointment to hold a conference to discuss areas of concern.
My child is not fluent in the English language
At the middle and high schools, contact the counselor. At the elementary level the Special Services Coordinator at your child’s school is available to assist you.
My child is experiencing difficulty with his/her speech
Contact the Principal at your child’s school.
My child is having difficulty in social interactions with peers
At the high school or middle school, the counselor would be the appropriate contact. For elementary school students, the contact person is the Principal.
