Elementary School Counselors

Meet the CUSD #5 District Counselors 

Lisa D'Agostin is the School Counselor at Merrill Intermediate. She received a degree in Educational Counseling from the University of Phoenix and completed her practicum at Canyon and Desert Palms Elementary Schools. Through work in addictions, mental health, abuse-related issues, and substitute teaching, Lisa has six years of counseling/education experience. She holds a Life Skills Coaching Certificate and has coached soccer for twelve years. Lisa is looking forward to assisting students (and families) to promote success at school.

Katherine Knabe graduated from the University of Iowa with BA in Elementary Education and a specialization in Reading. She taught first grade and then returned to get her MA in Counseling and Human Development with a specialization in School Counseling. Katherine has worked as an elementary school counselor for 10 years  and loves her job! She  has experience working with special needs students, students from diverse backgrounds, and parent education programs. Nicole Burba is the new school counselor at Dillon Primary.  She received her Masters in School Counseling from National Louis University; Nicole completed her practicum at the middle school and high school level in Aurora.  Nicole is also certified Crisis Phone Line Counselor.  She has moved out to Sterling from Naperville with her dog, Riley and is looking forward to meeting new faces.

Jenny Scudero was a graduate from Monmouth College in 2004 with a degree in Psychology. She got her masters in School Counseling and Guidance at Lewis University (graduating summer of 2006) Jenny’s internship was at a middle school in downtown Wheaton . She has also worked as a camp counselor for six years three of those years being the  a camp director. In addition, Jenny was also a Teachers assistant at a high school in Aurora. She enjoys playing sports, coaching and working out. Jenny says about herself, “ I am a total health nut.”

Steve Braasch is the counselor at Franklin Elementary School. He received his Master's degree from Western Illinois University in Counselor Education. His undergraduate degree is from Illinois State University in Psychology and Sociology. He completed his internship in Tampico / Prophetstown which is where he resides with his four children. He has spent the majority of his life in the area.  He is a National Certified Counselor and with a goal of becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor. Steve has worked in both the Business and Social Service sectors. He looks forward to working with the parents and staff at Franklin to ensure the students are achieving their fullest potential.

Carrie Snow is the counselor at Lincoln Elementary School. Carrie received her Masters degree in counseling from Northern Illinois University and a Bachelors degree from Mount St. Clare College. Carrie has worked in the School Based Counseling Program Lutheran Social Services for over five years.
