Intentional Guidance

Counselors use school data to identify gaps in achievement between groups of students. The school counseling program works to identify and serve these students who are needing more than the standards –based guidance curriculum. Oftentimes, small groups are formed based on the needs of the school according to data collected. For instance, CUSD #5  counselors create small groups for students with attendance concerns. Counselors collect pre and post test data to identify what concepts are learned through the small group. In addition, data is examined before and after the group to show the impact of the small group.
