Mrs. Whalen graduated from Dixon High School in 1998 and graduated from Olivet Nazarene University in 2003 with a Bachelor's degree in Music Education. After graduation, she taught 7th Grade General Music and 8th Grade Art at Brookwood Junior High School in Glenwood, Illinois, then spent two years teaching elementary general music for the School City of Hammond in Hammond, Indiana.
In July of 2006, Mrs. Whalen and her husband moved to Sterling and she joined the Challand Middle School staff as the choir director.
Mrs. Whalen loves to work with people of all ages, and enjoys many kinds of music. She plays the piano at the Sterling First Church of the Nazarene. She is also currently serving as the music director for Dixon High School's spring musical.
