Section 10:  Review, Monitoring, and Revision Processes

The plan outlines how the persons responsible for school improvement review the plan, monitor progress, and make course corrections as needed.

Section 10.1 District Peer Review Process

Each building SIP team, or a designated peer review team, completes an internal review process using the ISBE scoring rubric.  Scoring should be completed independently and then shared within the group.  Adjustments to the SIP will be made if necessary. This rubric is submitted with the School Improvement Plan to the District Office in May.  During the months of June, July and August, representatives from each school’s SIP team meet with the Board of Education’s Education Committee.  The Education Committee members will provide feedback to each school.  The   school SIP members will review the feedback and make any necessary changes before the School Improvement Plans are submitted to the school board at the September board meeting.

Level 3 Implementation

The plan describes the district peer review and approval process.

Section 10.2 Monitoring Progress of the Plan

The District encourages and ensures that each SIP Committee will meet regularly to review their school improvement plan. In addition to committee meetings, the entire faculty will convene on a regular basis to review the plan and assess their progress toward reaching the goals that have been identified. The following schedule will be used to frequently monitor the progress of the plan:

Each SIP Committee will meet quarterly (at minimum) during the school year and once during the summer or end of year to monitor progress, collect data, analyze data, and update the SIP as needed. All schools will update their SIP according to available assessment data.

The entire faculty will check progress of the plan and achievement of their goals during each designated SIP day (4 times per year, minimally).  Time will be devoted to addressing the SIP goals to assess current progress, analysis of data and needed actions to maintain continuous improvement toward attaining each goal during the quarterly review.

Each SIP progress meeting will begin with distribution of current data available in order to frequently monitor student performance and use this information to guide decisions in school improvement.

The SIP team will submit Quarterly Review reports and an End-of-Year Report using the available templates to the District Office.  These reports will be shared with the Education Committee and the entire school board.  The reports will also be posted on the district website.

Level 3 Implementation

The plan describes how and when school personnel and leaders will collect data to monitor the effectiveness of strategies.

Section 10.3 Revision of the Plan

As the SIP team and the entire faculty review and monitor their progress on goals of the School Improvement Plan, there may be a need for revisions.  Part of the Quarterly Review process asks schools to analyze data and determine what is going well and what is not going well.  From there, the SIP team considers what needs to be done differently before the next quarterly review.  The SIP team submits the summary of their findings and also includes a revised copy of their action plans to the District Office as part of their Quarterly Review report.

Level 3 Implementation

The plan describes how and when school personnel and leaders will collect data to monitor the effectiveness of strategies.
