education students who tested into the program are placed into the
appropriate SRA decoding and comprehension levels. Cre=

place of social studies at 6th grade, encore at 7th

content of the regular education class is not appropriate for the student=

The
instructional literature class has been created. Teachers are meeting weekl=

the CMS literacy coach in order to plan instruction. There are 6 classes with 45 stud=

We held a
family reading night on Thursday, October 18th. There were 79 people in
attendance with 31 CMS students at the evening event. Students also had the oppo=
rtunity
to participate without coming to CMS by reading at home or by going to the

tutoring opportunities for 7th and 8th grade at-risk
students. At-risk math
students will be assigned to a 9th period class for math tutor=
ing with
a grade level math teacher.

The PBIS =

meets every two weeks and updates discipline data weekly. The team forms plans for
improvement based upon the current data.=

There are=

students at CMS who participate in the “Check and Connect”
program. The students=
check
in with their assigned mentor every morning. The mentors each give their stud=

“pep talk” and a new check and connect form. (See the attached example.=
) The student then takes the form =

class to class, receiving a rating of 0, 1, or 2 at the end of each perio=
d. At the end of the day, the
student returns to his or her mentor to review the day and receive positi=
ve
feedback. Students also earn
coupons that can be spent at the CMS school store. The PBIS team keeps track =
of the
progress of each student on this program by graphing their weekly
points. (Please see t=
